Writer’s Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in writing for Obscuremagazine.com, your magazine for and about the African American community. We are looking for pieces that focus on community, spirituality, entertainment, poetry, special interests, health and fitness. We are also looking for relationship, how-to pieces and political and social articles.

We cannot discuss story ideas over the phone, nor can we respond to queries that come by fax or email.

Please provide us with a concise, one page outline of your story. Along with the outline, please provide a brief bio that describes your writing experience. Please attach clips. If you are interested in submitting more than one idea, please send a separate query for each topic.

If we decide that your story would be an interesting piece for the magazine, then you may be asked to submit a completed manuscript.

All manuscripts must be typed and double spaced. Please keep a copy for your records. We do not assume responsibility for unsolicited materials. Include your name, address and daytime phone number. Please allow three to five weeks to review.
